Some discussion took place about space travel, the immense distances to other planets, and the limits of such actions. How is it that space seems to be traversed in such short times, when the written statements within the Urantia Papers seem to be against such expectations?
As far as I am aware, the descriptions of space travel within the limits of the velocity of light, whether 2X or 3X are incorrect. Some other mechanism must be used that bypasses those limitations.
We have historic evidence that men traversed space in short time periods:
Enoch 1:1-3 -- The words of the blessing of Enoch, wherewith he blessed the elect and righteous, who will be living in the day of tribulation, when all the wicked and godless are to be removed. And he took up his parable and said, "Enoch a righteous man, whose eyes were opened by God, saw the vision of the Holy One in the heavens, which the angels showed me, and from them I heard everything, and from them I understood as I saw, but not for this generation, but for a remote one which is for to come. "
Note that he wrote to those who would be living in the day of tribulation, not for his generation, but for a remote one that was to come.
Enoch 14: 8-9 -- Behold, in the vision clouds invited me and a mist summoned me, and the course of the stars and the lightnings sped and hastened me, and the winds in the vision caused me to fly and lifted me upward, and bore me into heaven.
Enoch goes on to describe his tour of the heavens where he saw other worlds, and was instructed by assorted celestial personalities. He then returned to this world, to write about his experiences. With all due regard to the corruption that took place in the text, (the corruption took place before Jesus obtained his earthly title from that Book, page 1390,) we have a remarkable account. His record tells us that space travel must bypass the usual mechanical limitations.
Some reflection may yield better understanding.
Page 582: While there is this dematerializing technique for preparing the Adams for transit from Jerusem to the evolutionary worlds, there is no equivalent method for taking them away from such worlds unless the entire planet is to be emptied, in which event emergency installation of the dematerialization technique is made for the entire salvable population. If some physical catastrophe should doom the planetary residence of an evolving race, the Melchizedeks and the Life Carriers would install the technique of dematerialization for all survivors, and by seraphic transport these beings would be carried away to the new world prepared for their continuing existence. The evolution of a human race, once initiated on a world of space, must proceed quite independently of the physical survival of that planet, but during the evolutionary ages it is not otherwise intended that a Planetary Adam or Eve shall leave their chosen world.
Quite clearly, transport to another world must take place within a short time frame, so short that all those lifted off in a planetary emergency would continue their physical existence from the point where they left off on the old world.
We have information that permits us to estimate the mechanism used.
Betty Andreasson described the interior of a seraphic transport with seats used for the dematerialization process. See The Andreasson Affair, Raymond Fowler, Prentic-Hall, Englewood Cliffs, NJ, 1979.
These seats were composed of a "turtle shell" enclosure that was used to seal-in the material being. This enclosure then was filled with a fluid that apparently helped create the dematerialization.
Please note that the "air tubes" drawn by Betty were her imaginative creation. She did not understand the principle involved and subconsciously invented some means to maintain an air flow. Such tubes would void the mechanism. She reports that as the enclosure became filled with the fluid she began to "breath" it. This somehow permitted her complete and total immersion in the fluid that led to the dematerialization.
We also have a report from the American Indians which also describes this "turtle seat." See Myths of the Cherokee, U. S. Government Printing Office, Nineteenth Annual Report of the U.S. Bureau of American Ethnology, 1900, "The Man Who Married the Thunderer's Sister."
"The younger woman, the one he was about to marry, then sat down and told him to take a seat beside her. He looked, and it was a large turtle, which raised itself up and stretched its claws as if angry at being disturbed. The young man said it was a turtle, and refused to sit down, but the woman insisted that it was a seat."
This is an altogether fascinating account. Refer to
When he followed the two "women" from the site of a dance his tribe was conducting, they took him through a river in which the water formed into two walls on either side of him, just as in the account of Moses, Exod 14:21ff. When the "women" arrived at their "home" they removed wigs that showed they had bald heads, just as in many of the reports on our celestial visitors. The American Indian lad also described a "snake" that ran the length of the chamber in which they had led him, just as we find in Adamski and other reports.
We have one other piece of information concerning this dematerialization fluid, and its use for transport of material beings to other worlds.
In his book, Secret Life, Simon & Schuster, New York, 1992, David Jacobs describes a large "pool" in which abductees were asked to immerse themselves.
In one common ancillary procedure, the aliens bring the abductee into a room with a large tank or even a small ‘swimming pool’ in it. The aliens tell her to get into the tank. The liquid is clear and at first glance looks like water, but is not water. The abductee is told to submerge herself in the liquid and stay there. She may be scared that she will drown, but the aliens reassure her that she will be all right. She gets in over her head and then is told to breathe. She finds that she is able to breathe normally even though her head is under ‘water.’
We can deduce that these "experimentations" were conducted to determine how human beings would react to the process of dematerialization. If the "pool" description is accurate, it would mean that there are very large transports, large enough to encompass a "pool," and that the human beings need not be constrained during the transport. The difference between these large pools, and the turtle-seat, is the latter are designed for small seraphic transports, while the former are designed for large transports.
Another curiosity exists about the eight seats. In their book, Celtic Heritage, Thames and Hudson, London, 1961, Alwyn and Brinley Rees, quoted the Rig Veda:
"The Rig Veda also speaks of the eight Supreme Hindu gods known as the Adityas as crossing over the (space) waters in an amphibious chariot 'with seats where eight may sit.'"
Note the comparison to the eight seats described by Betty Andreasson.
Compilation of this material tells us much about seraphic transports, and how we may traverse space in essentially "no time."
I reserve further discussion.
