Turning the World Literally Upside Down
| P.1863 - §12 This world has never seriously or sincerely or honestly tried out these dynamic ideas and divine ideals of Jesus' doctrine of the kingdom of heaven. But you should not become discouraged by the apparently slow progress of the kingdom idea on Urantia. Remember that the order of progressive evolution is subjected to sudden and unexpected periodical changes in both the material and the spiritual worlds. The bestowal of Jesus as an incarnated Son was just such a strange and unexpected event in the spiritual life of the world. Neither make the fatal mistake, in looking for the age manifestation of the kingdom, of failing to effect its establishment within your own souls. |
But this physical change in the planetary body will not come
until after the judgments events I have described in other letters. By that time
God's people will have physically moved to islands of safety. Those islands of
safety may be other continents, or to mountains on other continents.
God is taking us to a higher physical and spiritual
evolutionary state, that we might better grow into more spiritual people.
P.54 - §5 Can you not advance in your concept of God's dealing with man to that level where you recognize that the watchword of the universe is progress? Through long ages the human race has struggled to reach its present position. Throughout all these millenniums Providence has been working out the plan of progressive evolution. The two thoughts are not opposed in practice, only in man's mistaken concepts. Divine providence is never arrayed in opposition to true human progress, either temporal or spiritual. Providence is always consistent with the unchanging and perfect nature of the supreme Lawmaker.
Providence might be termed the Will of God. It is the expression of his desire in the accomplishment of a universe settled in light and life. As a Being who knows the end from the beginning, all intermediate stages are merely his method for reaching that end. We have a long expectation in reaching those goals. These include physical as well as spiritual stages.
This planet has a long history of sudden and unexpected physical changes. While unknown to many people, and not discussed in the Urantia Papers, the purpose has always been to bring the planet and its people to a higher evolutionary state. Only through betrayal did this planet experience unwanted physical changes.
We should Remember that the order of progressive evolution is subjected to sudden and unexpected periodical changes in both the material and the spiritual worlds. These great physical changes are sudden, and they have been periodical. They affected both the material and the spiritual worlds. They are described in our historic documents.
Plato wrote in
his Statesman:
I mean the change in the rising and setting of the sun and the other heavenly bodies. In those times they used to set in the quarter where they now rise, and used to rise where they now set . . . So it must needs be that in the cosmic crisis there is widespread destruction of living creatures . . . and only a remnant of the human race survives. For when the whole order of things has come to its destined end there must needs be universal change once more . . . Now the pilot of the ship of the world lets go the handle of its rudder . . . A shudder passes through the world at the reversing of its rotation.
Herodotus wrote:
Thus the whole number of years is 11,340; in which entire space, they said, no god had ever appeared in human form; nothing of this kind had happened either under the former or under the later Egyptian kings. The sun, however, within this period of time, on four several occasions, moved from his wonted course, twice rising where he now sets, and twice setting where he now rises . . .
Of course, Herodotus did not
recognize that his account must cover far greater time that he attributed to
the Egyptians.
Other ancient Egyptian documents make similar assertions on the motions of the earth. The Ipuwer Papyrus states that the "land turns round as does the potter's wheel," and that the "Earth turned upside down." The Ermitage Papyrus in Leningrad states that a catastrophe had turned the "land upside down; happens that which never had happened,".
In the mythologies of the Hindus the world had great earth ages. Every period of 12,000 divine years was divided into four ages. The age of Krita was equal to 4,000 divine years with additional 400 divine years each of morning and evening twilight. The age of Krita was followed by the age of Treta with 3,000 divine years and morning and evening twilight of 300 years. This was followed by the age of Dvapara with 2,000 divine years and 200 years each of morning and evening. Lastly came the age of Kali with 1,000 years and 100 years each of morning and evening.
Although these ancient documents are grossly erroneous in their accounts we can see how people everywhere believed in Great Cycles of the planetary body.
Across the world in the ancient land of the Toltecs and Aztecs were folk memories of four great ages, known as the four "Suns." The world and men were created by a supreme god who was the "Creator of All Things," Lord of Heaven and Earth. Atonatiuh, the "Sun of Waters," was the first age terminated by a deluge in which all creatures perished. Tlalchitonatiuh, the "Sun of Earth," was the age of giants that ended in a terrific earthquake and fall of the mountains. Ecatonatiuh, the "Sun of Air," closed with a furious wind which destroyed buildings, uprooted trees, and even moved rocks. Quetzacoatl, the great white teacher appeared during this age, teaching the way of virtue and the arts of life, but his doctrines failed to take root. He departed to the east and promised to return in another day. With his departure Tlatonatiuh, the "Sun of Fire," began. This is the present age; it will be destroyed by fire.

The ancient Sumerians kept list of cosmic kings that showed ten ruled, divided into five ages. This was before the Great Flood. According to their list the Great Flood occurred about 30,000 years ago. This date would be shortly after Adam and Eve defaulted as revealed to us in the Urantia Papers. Their default brought spiritual as well as material changes in the world.

So the fact of four or five great world ages is known from human memory. According to that memory the world was literally turned upside down in each of those episodes.
I shall now show the revelation given to us about the coming geophysical disruption of the planet.
Luke 21:25-28
And there will be signs in sun and moon
and stars, and upon the earth distress of nations in perplexity at the roaring
of the sea and the waves, men fainting with fear and with foreboding of what is
coming on the world; for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. And then
they will see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
Unfortunately, the memory of the remarks of Jesus recorded in Luke are confused. Michael will come before all these events.
Rev 18:21-24
Then a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone and threw it into
the sea, saying,
"So shall Babylon the Great be thrown down with violence, and shall be found no
more; and the sound of harpers and minstrels, of flute players and
trumpeters, shall be heard in thee no more; and a craftsman of any craft shall
be found in thee no more; and the sound of the millstone shall be heard in thee
no more; and the light of a lamp shall shine in thee no more; and the voice of
bridegroom and bride shall be heard in thee no more; for thy merchants were the
great men of the earth, and all nations were deceived by thy sorcery. And in
her was found the blood of prophets and of saints, and of all who have been
slain on earth."
Babylon the Great shall be thrown into the sea in the devastation of the twisting of the earth. But only after she is destroyed in the Great Nuclear Holocaust.
Isa 24:17-23
17 Terror, and the pit, and the snare are upon you, O inhabitant of the earth!
18 He who flees at the sound of the terror shall fall into the pit;
and he who climbs out of the pit shall be caught in the snare.
For the windows of heaven are opened, and the foundations of the earth
tremble.
19 The earth is utterly broken, the earth is rent asunder, the earth is
violently shaken.
20 The earth staggers like a drunken man, it sways like a hut;
its transgression lies heavy upon it, and it falls, and will not rise again.
21 On that day Yahweh will punish the host of heaven, in heaven, and the kings
of the earth, on the earth.
22 They will be gathered together as prisoners in a pit;
they will be shut up in a prison, and after many days they will be punished.
23 Then the moon will be confounded, and the sun ashamed;
for Yahweh of hosts will reign on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem and before his
elders he will manifest his glory.
Social Terror now shows it ugly head around our world. No matter which way we turn we meet the terrifying conditions of a world gone insane.
Isaiah told us: As part of the Great Judgment the planet will undergo great physical changes.
This passage is also telling us that the Judgment of the fallen Sons of God, from all the worlds in this administrative system, and those held on the Prison Worlds, will be judged at the same time as the Judgment of this world.
We see this great judgment in the Psalms as well.
Ps 18:6-15
6 In my distress I called upon the Lord; to my God I cried for help. From his
temple he heard my voice,
and my cry to him reached his ears.
7 Then the earth reeled and rocked; the foundations also of the mountains trembled and quaked, because he was angry.
8 Smoke went up from his nostrils, and devouring fire from his
mouth; glowing coals flamed forth from him.
9 He bowed the heavens, and came down; thick darkness was under
his feet.
10 He rode on a cherub, and flew; he came swiftly upon the
wings of the wind.
11 He made darkness his covering around him, his canopy thick
clouds dark with water.
12 Out of the brightness before him there broke through his
clouds hailstones and coals of fire.
13 The Lord also thundered in the heavens, and the Most High
uttered his voice, hailstones and coals of fire.
14 And he sent out his arrows, and scattered them; he flashed
forth lightnings, and routed them.
15 Then the channels of the sea were seen, and the foundations
of the world were laid bare, at thy rebuke,
O Lord, at the blast of the breath of thy nostrils.
You can see the nuclear destructions described in this passage. Hailstones and coals of fire came forth in the Great Judgment. The details are reminiscent of John's Revelation:
Rev 16:18-21
18 And there were flashes of lightning, voices, peals of thunder, and a great
earthquake such as had never been since men were on the earth, so great was
that earthquake.
19 The great city was split into three parts, and the cities of the
nations fell, and God remembered Great Babylon, to make her drain the cup of
the fury of his wrath.
20 And every island fled away, and no mountains
were to be found;
21 and great hailstones, heavy as a hundred-weight, dropped on men from
heaven, till men cursed God for the plague of the hail, so fearful was that
plague.
While the revelation has been somewhat adulterated by an early
Christian editor we can see the enormity of that which is coming down upon the
head of man. Not only must we endure the nuclear holocaust we must also endure
the great twisting of the planet, when "every island fled away, and no
mountains were to be found."
In Jeremiah we are told of the Great Planetary Judgment and the destruction of
Great Babylon, the United States.
Jer 51:41-58
41 "How Babylon is taken, the praise of the whole earth seized! How Babylon has
become a horror among the nations!
42 The sea has come up on Babylon; she is covered with its tumultuous waves.
43 Her cities have become a horror, a
land of drought and a desert, a land in which no one dwells, and through which
no son of man passes. 44 And I will punish Bel in Babylon, and take out of his
mouth what he has swallowed. The nations shall no longer flow to him; the wall
of Babylon has fallen.
45 "Go out of the midst of her, my people! Let every man save his life from the
fierce anger of Yahweh! 46 Let not your heart faint, and be not fearful at the
report heard in the land, when a report comes in one year and afterward a
report in another year, and violence is in the land, and ruler is against
ruler.
47 "Therefore, behold, the days are coming when I will punish the images of
Babylon; her whole land shall be put to shame, and all her slain shall fall in
the midst of her. 48 Then the heavens and the earth, and all that is in them,
shall sing for joy over Babylon; for the destroyers shall come against them out
of the north, says Yahweh. 49 Babylon must fall for the slain of Israel, as for
Babylon have fallen the slain of all the earth.
50 "You that have escaped from the sword, go, stand not still! Remember Yahweh
from afar, and let Jerusalem come into your mind: 51 'We are put to shame, for
we have heard reproach; dishonor has covered our face, for aliens have come
into the holy places of Yahweh's house.' 52 "Therefore, behold, the days are
coming, says Yahweh, when I will execute judgment upon her images, and through
all her land the wounded shall groan. 53 Though Babylon should mount up to
heaven, and though she should fortify her strong height, yet destroyers would
come from me upon her, says Yahweh.
54 "Hark! a cry from Babylon! The noise of great destruction from the land of
the Chaldeans! 55 For Yahweh is laying Babylon waste, and stilling her mighty
voice. Their waves roar like many waters, the noise of their voice is raised;
56 for a destroyer has come upon her, upon Babylon; her warriors are taken,
their bows are broken in pieces; for Yahweh is a God of recompense, he will
surely requite. 57 I will make drunk her princes and her wise men, her
governors, her commanders, and her warriors; they shall sleep a perpetual sleep
and not wake, says the King, whose name is Yahweh of hosts.
58 "Thus says Yahweh of hosts: The broad wall of Babylon shall be leveled to
the ground and her high gates shall be burned with fire. The peoples labor for
nought, and the nations weary themselves only for fire."
Afterwards, after all the world trauma, our God will give back that which he took away.
Isa 4:2-6
2 In that day he shall become the Branch of Yahweh, for stateliness and for
glory,
and the fruit of the land shall be the pride and glory of the survivors of Israel.
3 And he who is left in Zion and remains in Jerusalem will be called holy,
every one who has been recorded for life in Jerusalem.
4 When the Lord shall have washed away the filth of the
daughters of Zion and cleansed the bloodstains of Jerusalem from its midst by a
spirit of judgment and by a spirit of burning.
5 Then Yahweh will create over the whole site of the mountain of Zion and
over her assemblies a cloud by day, and smoke and the brightness of gleaming fire
by night; for over all the glory there will be a canopy and a booth.
6 It will be for a shade by day from the heat, and for a refuge
and a shelter from the storm and the rain.
This is a very important passage, but very difficult in the translations. Most
translators would give the images in terms of what we know today, in our
current world regime, but the passage refers to the future age when a new planetary
regime is in effect.
Verse 2: The Branch of Yahweh is a designation for the coming Messiah. That will be Melchizedek when he is born as a babe of the world, and exists in the body of a human mortal. But he shall be stately and glorious in his appearance. The phrase "he shall become" means Melchizedek shall become.
No longer will there be deserts anywhere around the planet. Deserts will truly blossom like the rose, when they become a fruitful field and the fruitful field shall be regarded as a forest. (Isa 29:17) When the people work the land it shall become the pride and glory of the survivors of Israel.
Verse 3: This is the new Jerusalem, not the Jerusalem of today, which will be blasted from the face the earth. The residents of that new city will have a special status in administration of the planet. They shall indeed be called holy because of their function in planetary administration. Some, like a new Adam and Eve, will be recorded as part of that planetary administration and will serve far into the future.
Verse 4: This will take place after our God has washed away all the filth of the past in the great planetary judgment.
Verse 5: When our God twists the planet a new planetary environment will develop. Because of the rotational mode, weather turbulence will no longer affect the planetary atmosphere. A canopy, or cloud cover will envelope the world. This canopy will shelter the planet from the blazing heat of the sun. A new moisture regime will affect all plants; they will grow in size and in abundance. The night will become bright because the cloud-cover will scatter the sunlight around the world.
Verse 6: This will not only provide a shelter from the heat of the sun, but also eliminate the planetary storms that we now experience, and the heavy downpours of rain that come with the atmospheric disturbance.
This verse is, indeed, a great revelation about our planetary future.
I cannot offer intelligent comment on the word "smoke" used in Verse 5. It is in the context of a new atmospheric phenomenon, and may carry images that we do not understand. Either the ancient writer did not know how to convey a proper meaning, and used the closest symbol he recognized, or the information he was given goes beyond his conceptual grasp.
Isa 35
1 The wilderness and the dry land shall be glad, the desert shall rejoice and
blossom; like the rose 2 it shall blossom abundantly, and rejoice with joy and
singing. The glory of Lebanon shall be given to it, the majesty of Carmel and
Sharon. They shall see the glory of the Lord, the majesty of our God.
3 Strengthen the weak hands, and make firm the feeble knees. 4 Say to those who
are of a fearful heart, "Be strong, fear not! Behold, your God will come with
vengeance, with the recompense of God. He will come and save you."
5 Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf
unstopped; 6 then shall the lame man leap like a hart, and the tongue of the
dumb sing for joy. For waters shall break forth in the wilderness, and streams
in the desert; 7 the burning sand shall become a pool, and the thirsty ground
springs of water; the haunt of jackals shall become a swamp, the grass shall
become reeds and rushes.
8 And a highway shall be there, and it shall be called the Holy Way; the
unclean shall not pass over it, and fools shall not err therein. 9 No lion
shall be there, nor shall any ravenous beast come up on it; they shall not be
found there, but the redeemed shall walk there. 10 And the ransomed of the Lord
shall return, and come to Zion with singing; everlasting joy shall be upon
their heads; they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall
flee away.
Isa 65:17-25
17 "Behold, I will create new heavens and a new earth. The former things will
not be remembered, nor will they come to mind. 18 But be glad and rejoice
forever in what I will create, for I will create Jerusalem to be a delight and
its people a joy. 19 I will rejoice over Jerusalem and take delight in my
people; the sound of weeping and of crying will be heard in it no more.
20 "Never again will there be in it an infant who lives but a few days, or an
old man who does not live out his years; he who dies at a hundred will be
thought a mere youth; he who fails to reach a hundred will be considered
accursed. 21 They will build houses and dwell in them; they will plant
vineyards and eat their fruit. 22 No longer will they build houses and others
live in them, or plant and others eat. For as the days of a tree, so will be
the days of my people; my chosen ones will long enjoy the works of their hands.
23 They will not toil in vain or bear children doomed to misfortune; for they
will be a people blessed by Yahweh, they and their descendants with them. 24
Before they call I will answer; while they are still speaking I will hear. 25
The wolf and the lamb will feed together, and the lion will eat straw like the
ox, but dust will be the serpent's food. They will neither harm nor destroy on
all my holy mountain," says Yahweh.

TECHNICAL NOTE:
The planetary
body is a huge gyroscope. As it spins it creates a massive rotational inertia.
It cannot be moved from this rotational mode without producing serious
perturbations in its configuration. The surface of the earth, floating on a
magma, certainly would react to such perturbations. But the planet is also
related to the other bodies in the Solar System in a manner which escapes our
modern astronomical science.
Our Visitors are concerned about the energy stability of the
solar system. As stated to Adamski: ISS68: My son, our main purpose in coming to you at this
time is to warn you of the grave danger which threatens men of earth today.
. . If mankind on earth should release such (nuclear) power against one another
in full warfare, a large part of Earth’s population could be annihilated, your
soil rendered sterile, your waters poisoned, and the world barren to life for
many years to come. It is possible that the body of your planet itself could be
mutilated to an extent that would destroy her balance in our galaxy. One of the most important concerns of our Creator is system
stability. Little have our astronomers explored this important element of
stellar configurations. We now know that synchronous modes exist in the solar
system. From the time that Galileo discovered the orbits of the Jovian
satellites we learned that those major bodies are in synchronous revolution.
Io, Europa, and Ganymede are all in 2:1 ratios, while Callisto is in a ratio of
7:3. In the latter part of the past century we learned that Venus is in
synchronous revolution/rotation with our earth, showing the same face to us as
she passes between us and the sun. We also now know that Mercury is in a locked
revolution-to-rotation cyclic periodicity around the sun of 3:2. Furthermore,
the inclination of the planets with respect to the sun follow three discrete
positions, within three degrees: a) with their poles fully upright with respect
to the ecliptic plane, (Mercury, Venus, and Jupiter); b) at an inclination of
twenty-six degrees, (earth, Mars, Saturn, Neptune); or c) flat on their side
(Uranus). As stated by C. S. Lewis in the 1940’s: OSP153: . . . The force or forces behind “Weston,” (our
secular science), will play a very important part in the events of the next few
centuries, and, unless we prevent them, a very disastrous one. . . . The
dangers to be feared are not planetary but cosmic, or at least solar, and they
are not temporal but eternal. More than this it would be unwise to say. Unless God himself takes control of the physical forces guiding
the planet we will certainly destroy our home. That is one of the reasons He
now Returns to this world.
