The Judgment Events Before
going on to discuss the "family from the north" it may be helpful to
outline the form of the world judgment. If the following I offer excerpts from
the several revelations given by Melchizedek to the prophets and seers of
Israel. I provide brief commentaries
only where it may help clarify the statements. I use asterisks to highlight my
comments. All passages are from the RSV MT unless otherwise noted. THE DAY OF THE LORD Ezek 30:1-3 The word of the LORD came to me: "Son of
man, prophesy, and say, Thus says the Lord GOD: 'Wail, 'Alas for the day!' For
the day is near, the day of the LORD is near; it will be a day of clouds, a
time of doom for the nations." A Global Event Isa 24:6 Therefore a curse devours the earth, and its
inhabitants suffer for their guilt; therefore the inhabitants of the earth are
scorched, and few men are left. **In speaking to the Jews:** Jer 30:11 For I am with you to save you, says the LORD; I
will make a full end of all the nations among whom I scattered you, but of you
I will not make a full end. I will chasten you in just measure, and I will by
no means leave you unpunished. Indictment **We were told of the conditions of the timing of the
judgment.** Dan 12:7 The man clothed in linen, who was above the
waters of the stream, raised his right hand and his left hand toward heaven;
and I heard him swear by him who lives for ever that it would be for a time,
two times, and half a time; and that when the shattering of the power of the
holy people comes to an end all these things would be accomplished. **The two times and half a time has plagued multitudes of
interpretation. I shall not discuss it
here. I do so elsewhere. While we would
not define the Jews as "holy people" the sense is of those who were
given an opportunity to dedicate themselves to God. Instead they dedicated themselves to national pride. For that they must pay a terrible price.** Dan 11:13-14 For the king of the north shall again raise
a multitude, greater than the former; and at the end-of-age years he shall come
on with a great army and abundant supplies. In those times many shall rise
against the king of the south; and the men of violence among your own people
shall lift themselves up in order to fulfill the vision; but they shall fail. **In my view the king of the north represents the
northern nations, while the king of the south represents the Muslim
nations. The men of violence among the Jews are all those who believe
they can use violent means to accomplish their goals. They truly attempt to
lift themselves up to fulfill the ancient promises of the holy land as their
right, but they shall fail.** Jer 4:9-10 In that day, says the LORD, courage shall fail
both king and princes; the priests shall be appalled and the prophets
astounded." Then I said, "Ah, Lord GOD, surely thou hast utterly
deceived this people and Jerusalem," saying, "It shall be well with
you;" whereas the sword has reached their very life. **Truly the Jews felt they were God's privileged
people.** **Jesus was explicit about the form of the judgment.** Luke 12:49-51 I came to cast fire upon the earth; and
would that it were already kindled! I have a baptism to be baptized with and
how I am constrained until it is accomplished! Do you think I have come to give
peace on the earth? No, I tell you, but rather division . . .
Isa 10:22 For though your people Israel be like the sand
of the sea, only a remnant of them will return. Destruction is decreed,
overflowing with righteousness. Isa 13:6-16 Wail, for the day of the LORD is near; as destruction from the Almighty it will come! Therefore all hands will be feeble, and every man's heart will melt, and they will be dismayed. Pangs and agony will seize them; they will be in anguish like a woman in travail. They will look aghast at one another; their faces will be aflame. Behold, the day of the LORD comes, cruel, with wrath and fierce anger, to make the earth a desolation and to destroy its sinners from it. For the stars of the heavens and their constellations will not give their light; the sun will be dark at its rising and the moon will not shed its light. I will punish the world for its evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; I will put an end to the pride of the arrogant, and lay low the haughtiness of the ruthless. I will make men more rare than fine gold, and mankind than the gold of Ophir. Therefore I will make the heavens tremble, and the earth will be shaken out of its place, at the wrath of the LORD of hosts in the day of his fierce anger. And like a hunted gazelle, or like sheep with none to gather them, every man will turn to his own people, and every man will flee to his own land. Whoever is found will be thrust through, and whoever is caught will fall by the sword. Their infants will be dashed in pieces before their eyes; their houses will be plundered and their wives ravished.
Ezek 6:7-11 And the slain shall fall in the midst of you,
and you shall know that I am the LORD. Yet I will leave some of you alive. When
you have among the nations some who escape the sword, and when you are
scattered through the countries, then those of you who escape will remember me
among the nations where they are carried captive, when I have broken their wanton
heart which has departed from me, and blinded their eyes which turn wantonly
after their idols; and they will be loathsome in their own sight for the evils
which they have committed, for all their abominations. And they shall know that
I am the LORD; I have not said in vain that I would do this evil to them. Baptism In Fire
Jer 51:58 Thus says the LORD of hosts: The broad wall of
Babylon shall be leveled to the ground and her high gates shall be burned with fire.
The peoples labor for nought, and the nations weary themselves only for fire. **Note that this is not the ancient Babylon. I shall discuss the identity of this
Babylon in the next paper.** Hos 8:14 For Israel has forgotten his Maker, and built palaces;
and Judah has multiplied fortified cities; but I will send a fire upon his
cities, and it shall devour his strongholds. Amos 2:4-5 Thus says the LORD: "For three
transgressions of Judah, and for four, I will not revoke the punishment;
because they have rejected the law of the LORD, and have not kept his statutes,
but their lies have led them astray, after which their fathers walked. So I
will send a fire upon Judah, and it shall devour the strongholds of
Jerusalem." Clouds and Thick Darkness Isa 28:22 Now therefore do not scoff, lest your bonds be
made strong. I have heard a decree of destruction from the Lord God of hosts
upon the whole land. Isa 28:19 From the time that it goes forth it will take
you; for morning by morning it will pass through, by day and by night. It will
be sheer terror to understand the message. Joel 2:1-2 Blow the trumpet in Zion! Sound the alarm on
my holy mountain! Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble, for the day of
the LORD is coming, it is near, a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds
and thick darkness. Isa 29:5-6 In an instant, suddenly, you will be visited
by the LORD of hosts, with thunder and with earthquake and great noise, with
whirlwind and tempest, and the flame of devouring fire. Isa 5:30 And if one look to the land, behold, darkness
and distress. And the light is darkened by its clouds.
Bitter Waters ** The dire circumstances of radiation poisoning will affect
all those with child, and those who give suck, for the mothers and their milk will
be contaminated.** Luke 21:20-26 But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by
armies, then know that its desolation has come near. Then let those who are in
Judea flee to the mountains, and let those who are inside the city depart, and
let not those who are out in the country enter it; for these are days of
vengeance, to fulfill all that is written. Alas for those who are with child
and for those who give suck in those days! For great distress shall be upon the
earth and wrath upon this people; they will fall by the edge of the sword, and
be led captive among all nations; and Jerusalem will be trodden down by the
Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled. **Water the world over will be contaminated.** Jer 9:15 Therefore thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of
Israel: "Behold, I will feed this people with wormwood, and give them
poisonous water to drink." Jer 23:15 Therefore thus says the LORD of hosts concerning
the prophets: "Behold, I will feed them with wormwood, and give them
poisoned water to drink; for from the prophets of Jerusalem ungodliness has
gone forth into all the land." Rev 8:10-11 The third angel blew his trumpet, and a great
star fell from heaven, blazing like a torch, and it fell on a third of the
rivers and on the fountains of water. The name of the star is Wormwood. A third
of the waters became wormwood, and many men died of the water, because it was
made bitter. |
Baldness On All Heads **Radiation poisoning will cause hair to fall out. The
Russians sadly learned this lesson as the result of the Chernobyl power plant
disaster.** Ezek 7:16-19 And if any survivors escape, they will be on
the mountains, like doves of the valleys, all of them moaning, every one over
his iniquity. All hands are feeble, and all knees weak as water. They gird
themselves in sackcloth, and horror covers them; shame is upon all faces, and
baldness upon all heads. They cast their silver into the streets, and their
gold is like an unclean thing; their silver and gold are not able to deliver
them in the day of the wrath of the LORD; they cannot satisfy their hunger or
fill their stomachs with it. For it was the stumbling block of their
iniquity. Isa 3:18-26 In that day the Lord will take away the
finery of the anklets, the headbands, the crescents, the pendants, the
bracelets, the scarves, the headdresses, the armlets, the sashes, the perfume
boxes, the amulets, the signet rings and nose rings, the festal robes, the
mantles, the cloaks, the handbags, the garments of gauze, the linen garments,
the turbans, and the veils. Instead of perfume there will be rottenness;
instead of a girdle, a rope; instead of well-set hair, baldness; instead of a
rich robe, a girding of sackcloth; instead of beauty, shame. Your men shall
fall by the sword and your mighty men in battle. And her gates shall lament and
mourn; ravaged, she shall sit upon the ground. Isa 22:12-13 In that day the Lord GOD of hosts called to
weeping and mourning, to baldness and girding with sackcloth . . . Isa 15:2-3 The daughter of Dibon has gone up to the high
places to weep; over Nebo and over Med'eba Moab wails. On every head is
baldness, every beard is shorn; in the streets they gird on sackcloth; on the
housetops and in the squares every one wails and melts in tears. Amos 8:10 I will turn your feasts into mourning, and all
your songs into lamentation; I will bring sackcloth upon all loins, and
baldness on every head; I will make it like the mourning for an only son, and
the end of it like a bitter day. Rocks And Caves **Our military in the United States built shelters in
caves and among the rocks of the mountains for protection of their command
installations. These are in Colorado,
in Virginia, and in Maryland, among other places. The Swiss now have shelters in caves of the Alps for every
citizen of that country. The Russians
have built similar shelters in their mountains. Other countries have also done so.** Luke 23:27-30: And there followed him a great multitude
of the people, and of women who bewailed and lamented him. But Jesus turning to
them said, "Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me, but weep for
yourselves and for your children. For behold, the days are coming when they
will say, 'Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bore, and the
breasts that never gave suck!' Then they will begin to say to the mountains,
'Fall on us'; and to the hills, 'Cover us.'" Hos 10:8 The high places of Aven, the sin of Israel,
shall be destroyed. Thorn and thistle shall grow up on their altars; and they
shall say to the mountains, "Cover us," and to the hills, "Fall
upon us." Isa 2:19-21 And men shall enter the caves of the rocks
and the holes of the ground, from before the terror of the LORD, and from the glory
of his majesty, when he rises to terrify the earth. In that day men will cast
forth their idols of silver and their idols of gold, which they made for
themselves to worship, to the moles and to the bats, to enter the caverns of
the rocks and the clefts of the cliffs, from before the terror of the LORD, and
from the glory of his majesty, when he rises to terrify the earth. Rev 6:12-17 When he opened the sixth seal, I looked, and
behold, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth,
the full moon became like blood, and the stars of the sky fell to the earth as
the fig tree sheds its winter fruit when shaken by a gale; the sky vanished
like a scroll that is rolled up, and every mountain and island were removed
from their place. Then the kings of the earth and the great men and the
generals and the rich and the strong, and every one, slave and free, hid in the
caves and among the rocks of the mountains, calling to the mountains and rocks,
"Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who is seated on the throne,
and from the wrath of the lamb; for the great day of their wrath has come, and
who can stand before it?" Extremity of Judgment Isa 49:26 I will make your oppressors eat their own
flesh, and they shall be drunk with their own blood as with wine. Then all
flesh shall know that I am the LORD your Savior, and your Redeemer, the Mighty
One of Jacob. Isa 9:17-21 Therefore the Lord does not rejoice over
their young men, and has no compassion on their fatherless and widows; for every
one is godless and an evildoer, and every mouth speaks folly. For all this his
anger is not turned away and his hand is stretched out still. For wickedness
burns like a fire, it consumes briers and thorns; it kindles the thickets of
the forest, and they roll upward in a column of smoke. Through the wrath of the
LORD of hosts the land is burned, and the people are like fuel for the fire; no
man spares his brother. They snatch on the right, but are still hungry, and
they devour on the left, but are not satisfied; each devours his neighbor's
flesh, Manasseh Ephraim, and Ephraim Manasseh, and together they are against
Judah. For all this his anger is not turned away and his hand is stretched out
still. Jer 19:7-9 And in this place I will make void the plans of
Judah and Jerusalem, and will cause their people to fall by the sword before
their enemies, and by the hand of those who seek their life. I will give their
dead bodies for food to the birds of the air and to the beasts of the earth.
And I will make this city a horror, a thing to be hissed at; every one who
passes by it will be horrified and will hiss because of all its disasters. And
I will make them eat the flesh of their sons and their daughters, and every one
shall eat the flesh of his neighbor in the siege and in the distress, with
which their enemies and those who seek their life afflict them. Lam 2:20-22 Look, O LORD, and see! With whom hast thou
dealt thus? Should women eat their offspring, the children of their tender
care? Should priest and prophet be slain in the sanctuary of the Lord? In the
dust of the streets lie the young and the old; my maidens and my young men have
fallen by the sword; in the day of thy anger thou hast slain them, slaughtering
without mercy. Thou didst invite as to the day of an appointed feast my terrors
on every side; and on the day of the anger of the LORD none escaped or
survived; those whom I dandled and reared my enemy destroyed. **These warnings go back as far as the time of Moses.** Deut 28:47-57 Because you did not serve the LORD your God
with joyfulness and gladness of heart, by reason of the abundance of all
things, therefore you shall serve your enemies whom the LORD will send against
you, in hunger and thirst, in nakedness, and in want of all things; and he will
put a yoke of iron upon your neck, until he has destroyed you. The LORD will
bring a nation against you from afar, from the end of the earth, as swift as
the eagle flies, a nation whose language you do not understand, a nation of
stern countenance, who shall not regard the person of the old or show favor to
the young, and shall eat the offspring of your cattle and the fruit of your
ground, until you are destroyed; who also shall not leave you grain, wine, or
oil, the increase of your cattle or the young of your flock, until they have
caused you to perish. They shall besiege you in all your towns, until your high
and fortified walls, in which you trusted, come down throughout all your land;
and they shall besiege you in all your towns throughout all your land, which
the LORD your God has given you. And you shall eat the offspring of your own
body, the flesh of your sons and daughters, whom the LORD your God has given
you, in the siege and in the distress with which your enemies shall distress
you. The man who is the most tender and delicately bred among you will grudge
food to his brother, to the wife of his bosom, and to the last of the children
who remain to him; so that he will not give to any of them any of the flesh of
his children whom he is eating, because he has nothing left him, in the siege
and in the distress with which your enemy shall distress you in all your towns.
The most tender and delicately bred woman among you, who would not venture to
set the sole of her foot upon the ground because she is so delicate and tender,
will grudge to the husband of her bosom, to her son and to her daughter, her
afterbirth that comes out from between her feet and her children whom she
bears, because she will eat them secretly, for want of all things, in the siege
and in the distress with which your enemy shall distress you in your towns. A Nation Afar Off Isa 5:26-30 He will raise a signal for a nation afar off,
and whistle for it from the ends of the earth; and lo, swiftly, speedily it
comes! None is weary, none stumbles, none slumbers or sleeps, not a waistcloth
is loose, not a sandal-thong broken; their arrows are sharp, all their bows
bent, their horses' hoofs seem like flint, and their wheels like the whirlwind.
Their roaring is like a lion, like young lions they roar; they growl and seize
their prey, they carry it off, and none can rescue. They will growl over it on
that day, like the roaring of the sea. And if one look to the land, behold,
darkness and distress; and the light is darkened by its clouds. A Flying Scroll **I add this note because of the specific
description. Compare with the
descriptions from Joel 2. I discuss
those elsewhere.** Zech 5:1-4 Again I lifted my eyes and saw, and behold, a
flying scroll! And he said to me, "What do you see?" I answered,
"I see a flying scroll; its length is twenty cubits, and its breadth ten
cubits." Then he said to me, "This is the curse that goes out over
the face of the whole land; for every one who steals shall be cut off
henceforth according to it, and every one who swears falsely shall be cut off
henceforth according to it. I will send it forth, says the LORD of hosts, and
it shall enter the house of the thief, and the house of him who swears falsely
by my name; and it shall abide in his house and consume it, both timber and
stones." |
