Part
IV
*EVIL*
THE LIKES OF WHICH YOUR MIND
|
|
|
As given to Judy Tuttle:
The veil
has been torn aside. It is no longer the advent of the Antichrist.
He is here, now, amongst you, sitting gleefully upon his throne.
It is time for the Sons of God to come together. This period will be
very intense , but short, ending in the year 2000. You will witness
*evil* the likes of which your mind could never possibly conceive.
It is not necessary to make physical preparation. You will be surrounded
by a cloak of spiritual tranquility and love. Fear not! This has
been your purpose. You have our love and protection. "We will foster
and conserve the higher spiritual types."
In this Part I shall discuss:
This period will be very intense , but short, ending in the year
2000. You will witness *evil* the likes of which your mind could never possibly conceive.
We cannot now, at this time, and
from our positions of comfort, even begin to realize the intensity of that
which is coming down upon us. This episode will be executed by those who
have given themselves to Caligastia. God will open the gate and the Devil
will bring forth his cadre in the most intense religious persecution this
world has ever seen. Our service will take place in a spiritual crisis
of proportions beyond our imagination.
Indeed, it will be extremely short.
We will not have time to think about policies or programs. We will work
strictly from our hearts, out of our love for our heavenly Father.
The Urantia Papers put it this way:
Page 1915: "But the times of the reappearing
of the Son of Man are known only in the councils of Paradise; not even
the angels of heaven know when this will occur. However, you should understand
that, when this gospel of the kingdom shall have been proclaimed to all the
world for the salvation of all peoples, and when the fullness of the
age has come to pass, the Father will send you another dispensational bestowal,
or else the Son of Man will return to adjudge the age.
Although the reappearing of the Son
of Man is known only in the councils of Paradise, the conditions for his
second coming are here explicitly given.
As I show elsewhere, we will not
receive another dispensational bestowal until well into the coming Millennium.
That bestowal will be of Melchizedek when he is born as a babe of the world.
He is the Messiah so long awaited. Therefore, Jesus will return now to
judge the age.
You can see that the gospel of the
kingdom will be proclaimed to the whole world, for the salvation of all
people. This gospel task will be part of the close of the age. This is
not the gospel of Christian personal salvation, but the gospel of the kingdom
of heaven. Only Urantians, or others persons who may have been rehearsed
in their deep minds, are prepared to bring this gospel to the world.
Under the influence of these spiritual
conditions, and this crisis, men and women everywhere will be receptive
to our saving message, where heretofore they rejected such teaching.
Only one thing we are certain
of, that is, when he does return, all the world will likely know
about it, for he must come as the supreme ruler of a universe
and not as the obscure babe of Bethlehem. But if every
eye is to behold him, and if only spiritual eyes are to
discern his presence, then must his advent be long deferred.
We can thus understand why this period
will be so very intense. Jesus is bringing the judgment of the age. Those
of us who are sensitive to the Spirit of Michael will respond accordingly.
We will go forth in service. Others of us will not have the spiritual eyes
to discern his presence -- and will be lost in this intense struggle. But
all the world will know about it. He comes as the supreme ruler of a universe.
Page 1915: And now concerning the travail
of Jerusalem, about which I have spoken to you, even this
generation will not pass away until my words are fulfilled; but concerning
the times of the coming again of the Son of Man, no one in
heaven or on earth may presume to speak. But you should be wise regarding
the ripening of an age; you should be alert to discern the signs of
the times. You know when the fig tree shows its tender branches and puts
forth its leaves that summer is near. Likewise, when the world has
passed through the long winter of material-mindedness and you discern
the coming of the spiritual springtime of a new dispensation, should
you know that the summertime of a new visitation draws near.
Some of us discern this coming of
a spiritual springtime. Some of us recognize that the summertime of a new
visitation is now here. This is the visitation of Jesus in his role as
Creator and Judge. Many Urantians cannot and do not make this association.
In that difference rests the salvation of the world.
I exhaustively tabulated the parallels
between the gospel record of the Tuesday evening discourse with the text
as it is given in the Urantia Papers.
I found that the historic text is
almost verbatim the responses to Nathaniel and Andrew found on pages 1912
and 1913. The response to Nathaniel is a warning about the end of the age.
The response to Andrew is a warning to the apostles about the coming destruction,
but couched in terms that also apply to the end of the age. Thus Jesus
killed two birds with one stone. He not only alerted the apostles to their
escape, he also provided instruction for us today.
This commingling of remarks led to
the great confusion of the apostles, and the great confusion of those who
studied Paper 176.
I shall now selectively use the parallels
to illustrate the nature of the unbelievable episodes coming down upon
us. In each case I show only the Urantia Papers parallel with Matthew.
The tabulation on my web site shows the Mark and Luke parallels.
From Matthew 24: 4 And Jesus answered them, "Take
heed that no one leads you astray.
From the Urantia Papers: "After I leave you, take heed that no man deceive you, for many will come as deliverers and will lead many astray."
The preeminent claim of the being "The Christ" is found in A Course In Miracles. No more insidious betrayal by a false Christ can be found. But A Course In Miracles is only one of a multitude of false Christs who parade their blasphemy, leading many astray to eternal death. Another group of false deliverers
are those proposed by Christian fundamentalists who believe Jesus will
offer miraculous escape from our imminent tribulations. No one will escape
the persecutions and decisions we all must make in these days of judgment.
Matt 24: 6 And you will hear of wars and
rumors of wars; see that you are not alarmed; for this must take place,
but the end is not yet.
Page 1912: "When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, be not troubled, for though all these things will happen, the end of Jerusalem is not yet at hand."
We must ask: what did wars and rumors
of wars, or nation rising against nation, have to do with alerting the
apostles to the environment of their work? Such social context did not
exist in their days. But the record of the twentieth century is one of
war and rumors of wars. The litany of kingdoms which have risen against
one another extends to dozens of names. More outstanding wars have been
World War I, World War II, the Korean war, the Viet Nam war, as well as
many others.
Matt 24: 7. . . . and there will be famines
and earthquakes in various places:
Page 1912: "You should not be perturbed by famines or earthquakes;"
The recital by Jesus of woe to be experienced by the world rises above application to the relatively stable world of the first century. Famines and earthquakes were not a part of the concern of his apostles. Thus we can see that Jesus intended these statements to refer to the end of the age. While famines have been striking
in many areas of the world, we have no scientific evidence that earthquakes
have been more prevalent or more devastating in this century than in other
centuries. We do not know the reason for Jesus' reference, except that
earthquakes may become more impressive in these last days.
Matt 10:17-22 17 Beware of men; for they will
deliver you up to councils, and flog you in their synagogues,
Page 1912: "neither should you be concerned when you are delivered up to the civil authorities and are persecuted for the sake of the gospel. You will be thrown out of the synagogues and put in prison for my sake, and some of you will be killed. When you are brought up before governors and rulers, it shall be for a testimony of your faith and to show your steadfastness in the gospel of the kingdom."
These passages begin the episode now shortly to come upon us. This is a brief period, not more than two years in length, in which we will be called to that supreme service. Note how a section of the Matthew text was removed from its location in Chapter 24 and placed in Chapter 10 where Jesus commissions his twelve apostles. Some Christian editor made a decision that these words more properly belonged to this earlier apostolic episode. The editor may have felt the discussion of dire conditions associated with revelation work should be applied to the apostles, failing to recognize that Jesus spoke to a future generation, when these exhortations would apply to his messengers in the last days. Or the editor's choice may have been based on a tradition now lost to us. Note also that the "synagogues" may mean Christian churches. Jesus had no word which he could substitute for the gathering for religious worship. He could not use the word temple, since that might leave the wrong impression of pagan worship. Unknown to us is the nature of the
civil arrest we will experience. Have dictatorial powers been assumed by
national governments? Do the governors, rulers, kings, and presidents want
to know what is transpiring? One would expect an invitation in such case,
not arrest. But if arrest is involved the implications are that the message
is contrary to social policies. However, this does not mean that rulers
would lack interest in the meaning of events.
Or the statements may mean that Caligastia
has taken over world governments through his human agents.
The exact significance of these remarks
is difficult to discern, except that our service will demand devotion,
even to our death.
Matt 10: 19 When they deliver you up, do
not be anxious how you are to speak or what you are to say; for what you
are to say will be given to you in that hour;
Page 1912: "And when you stand before judges, be not anxious beforehand as to what you should say, for the spirit will teach you in that very hour what you should answer your adversaries."
Clearly, we need not prepare ourselves
for this service. When our time comes we will speak from our hearts, with
the many years of preparation now behind us, and the time of fruition at
hand. God will show us what to say.
Matt 10: 21 Brother will deliver up brother
to death, and the father his child, and children will rise against parents
and put them to death;
Page 1912: "In these days of travail, even your own kinsfolk, under the leadership of those who have rejected the Son of Man, will deliver you up to prison and death. For a time you may be hated by all men for my sake, but even in these persecutions I will not forsake you; my spirit will not desert you."
The nature of this episode is so unbelievable in our present social context none of us can credit it. It is simply unbelievable, "*evil* the likes of which our minds could never possibly conceive."
John 16:2 They will put you out of the synagogues;
indeed, the hour is coming when whoever kills you will think
he is offering service to God.
Normal human feelings would not give
over brothers and sisters, parents and friends, or children to murderous
onslaughts. A basic alteration in mind and soul must fill the agents of
Caligastia to bring such betrayal of human feelings. They will believe
they are following the commands of God when he enters their minds. They
truly will believe they are working for God. They truly will believe they
are bringing a better world, by "cleansing" this present one. This will
be a work of total insanity, inspired by the most insane of minds.
Caligastia, writhing under the presence
of his Creator-Father, will bring the fury of his hatred for the greatest
torment human kind has ever seen.
Rev 12:17 "Then the dragon was angry with
the woman, and went off to make war on the rest of her offspring, on those
who keep the commandments of God and bear testimony to Jesus."
Rev 20:4 "Then I saw thrones, and seated
on them were those to whom judgment was committed. Also I saw the souls
of those who had been beheaded for their testimony to Jesus and for the
word of God."
Those who give testimony to Jesus
are those of us who have been prepared for this great day.
The revelation remarks suggest that
government control will be taken over by Caligastia and his human agents.
The leadership of those who have rejected the Son of Man are the sons and
daughters of Caligastia who have accepted that rebel Prince into their
minds.
Our task is to preach the gospel
of the Kingdom, to lead God's people to a greater light, and to more lofty
understanding. If we are able to withstand the onslaught of tribulation
and doubt from the entire world we will show our faithfulness to God in
the face of the most serious testing this world has even seen.
If we could think of "synagogues"
as churches we might gain insight into the service we will render. Christians,
and Jews, everywhere, will want to know what it all means. They will now
have good cause to reevaluate their foolish theologies and apostolic doctrines.
Do you understand that "kings and
governors" "presidents and rulers," will also be seeking understanding
as these events unfold? The entire world will be at a loss to come to grips
with these horrors. Does it become clear that he cannot cause such persecution
and horror unless he enters the minds of men and woman?
Can you imagine the reaction the
world will have against us? We will represent a totally new look at God,
rebellion, and reality. We will stand for a God of judgment - spiritual
judgment and physical judgment. We will focus fear and life-and-death anxiety.
Who will know which family will be next, as the spiritists come knocking
on the doors?
And who among the men and woman of the world, without knowledge of revelation, and without understanding of God's great creation, will be able to distinguish between the sons and |
daughters of God who come with new revelations, and the sons and daughters
of Caligastia who proclaim equally new revelations and justifications for
their acts. Will the world be able to distinguish between those who are
the true Sons of God, and those who serve the Devil as pretended Sons of
God?
Page 1642: "While you cannot observe the
divine spirit at work in your minds, there is a practical
method of discovering the degree to which you have yielded
the control of your soul powers to the teaching and guidance
of this indwelling spirit of the heavenly Father,
and that is the degree of your love for your fellow men.
This spirit of the Father partakes of the love of the Father,
and as it dominates man, it unfailingly leads in
the directions of divine worship and loving regard for
one's fellows. At first you believe that you are sons of
God because my teaching has made you more conscious of the
inner leadings of our Father's indwelling presence;
but presently the Spirit of Truth shall be poured out upon
all flesh, and it will live among men and teach all men,
even as I now live among you and speak to you the words of
truth. And this Spirit of Truth, speaking for the spiritual
endowments of your souls, will help you to know that you
are the sons of God. It will unfailingly bear witness with
the Father's indwelling presence, your spirit, then dwelling
in all men as it now
We should not be perturbed as the
Spirit of the Father, and the Spirit of Michael lead us to our service.
We can "believe that we are sons of God because his teaching has made us
more conscious of the inner leadings of our Father's indwelling presence."
"This Spirit of Truth, speaking for the spiritual endowments of our souls,
will help us to know that we are the sons of God."
Isa 28:9-13 9 "Whom will he teach knowledge,
and to whom will he explain the message? Those who are weaned from the
milk, those taken from the breast?
Only those of God's children who
have studied revelations, and historic facts, and celestial visitors, and
numerous other fields of knowledge, will be able to provide satisfactory
answers. We could come to such knowledge only through many years of study.
We must be more mature people, and not youngsters who have not gained such
knowledge.
Can Christians and Jews encompass
such cosmic knowledge within their tightly limited intellectual frameworks?
Will they not stumble over such strange teachings, coming from such alien
lips? Yet this is the method God will use to speak to his people. And out
of that turmoil the most devout and the most serious Christian and Jewish
minds will emerge to help salvage this world.
Thus we can gain insight into our
imminent service.
"But if the servant is slothful and begins to say in his heart, 'My master delays his coming,' and begins to mistreat his fellow servants and to eat and drink with the drunken, then the lord of that servant will come at a time when he looks not for him and, finding him unfaithful, will cast him out in disgrace. Therefore you do well to prepare yourselves for that day when you will be visited suddenly and in an unexpected manner. Remember, much has been given to you; therefore will much be required of you. Fiery trials are drawing near you. I have a baptism to be baptized with, and I am on watch until this is accomplished. You preach peace on earth, but my mission will not bring peace in the material affairs of men-not for a time, at least. Division
can only be the result where two members of a family believe
in me and three members reject this gospel. Friends, relatives,
and loved ones are destined to be set against
each other by the gospel you preach. True, each of these
believers shall have great and lasting peace in his own
heart, but peace on earth will not come until all are willing
to believe and enter into their glorious inheritance of
sonship with God. Nevertheless, go into all the world proclaiming
this gospel to all nations, to every man, woman, and
child."
Once again we can see how these passages
in the Urantia Papers were designed for our specific guidance in this unique
service.
"Therefore you do well to prepare
yourselves for that day when you will be visited suddenly and in an unexpected manner."
This is the visitation of Jesus,
as the Commander and Ruler of a Universe, with all of his celestial host.
"Remember, much has been given to you; therefore will much be required of you."
Did we believe that the fortunes
of fate, or the destiny of God, would bring us this great Revelation, and
that we would not be held accountable to compensation of service?
"Fiery trials are drawing near you. I have a baptism to be baptized with, and I am on
watch until this is accomplished."
Little did we recognize the magnitude
of the fiery trials now awaiting us. These fiery trials not only will bring
the utmost demands any group of human mortals has ever experienced; they
also bring the judgment of the age.
Luke 12:49-53 49 "I came to cast fire upon the
earth; and would that it were already kindled!
How much warning do we need?
Other estimates of this period may
be obtained from the words of Jesus, as recorded elsewhere in our historic
documents.
Matt 23:34-36 34 Therefore I send you prophets
and wise men and scribes, some of whom you will kill and crucify, and some
you will scourge in your synagogues and persecute from town to town,
We should not misunderstand. The
Jews did not crucify. If Jesus was talking only to his Jewish and Greek
followers these words could not apply to them. The context of his speech
was the public forum in the Temple precincts on Tuesday before his crucifixion.
He was addressing the general body of Jews - the Pharisee, Sadducees, members
of the ruling classes among the Jews - and those Greeks who may have been
present. Therefore, a serious objection is raised. Jesus did not mean for
his remarks to pertain to the coming apostolic persecutions. While Peter,
Andrew and Philip were crucified by Roman authorities Jesus did not make
these remarks to the Romans. He made these remarks to his apostles, disciples,
and those standing by, in order that they might be remembered to the end
of the age.
Crucifixion was used by many nations
of the ancient world, including Assyria, Media, and Persia. Alexander the
Great of Greece crucified 2,000 inhabitants of Tyre when he captured the
city. The Romans later adopted this method and used it often throughout
their empire. Crucifixion was the Roman most severe form of execution;
it was reserved only for slaves and criminals. No Roman citizen could be
crucified.
To the Jewish people, crucifixion
represented the most disgusting form of death. There is no evidence that
the Jews fastened people to a stake or a cross as a means of execution.
The Law directed death by stoning, Lev. 20:2; Deut. 22:24.
See Paul's approval of the stoning of Stephen, Acts 7:58, 8:1.
Therefore, we should recognize that
these remarks by Jesus had some other application.
He was speaking to an audience not
immediately present.
Consider the Greek word "genea" translated
as "generation."
According to Thayer's Lexicon, and
Strong's Dictionary number, 1074, genea was a generic term that
could mean one human generation, 25-35 years, but it also could mean men
of the same stock, the successive members of a genealogy, or metaphorically,
a race of men very like each other in endowments, the whole multitude of
men living at the same time, or an age.
The word does not necessarily mean
a generation of 30 to 33 years, but an age of similar attributes, or a
dispensation.
Therefore, the warning by Jesus pertains
to all the centuries, the genea, of this current world age.
Yet again, the words of Jesus speak
directly to us:
John 15:13-21 13 Greater love has no man than
this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
Again, we can assign this to the
apostolic age, or we can assign it to our own day. The words hold true,
even more now than then.
Jesus warned us of our impending
tribulations in still another passage in the Urantia Papers.
Page 1951:
After Peter, James, John, and
Matthew had asked the Master numerous questions, he continued
his farewell discourse by saying:
I am telling you about all this
before I leave you in order that you may be so prepared for what is
coming upon you that you will not stumble into serious error. The
authorities will not be content with merely putting you out of the
synagogues; I warn you the hour draws near when they who kill
you will think they are doing a service to God. And all of these things
they will do to you and to those whom you lead into the kingdom
of heaven because they do not know the Father. They have refused
to know the Father by refusing to receive me; and they refuse
to receive me when they reject you, provided you have kept my new
commandment that you love one another even as I have loved
you. I am telling you in advance about these things so that, when
your hour comes, as mine now has, you may be strengthened
in the knowledge that all was known to me, and that my spirit shall
be with you in all your sufferings for my sake and the gospel's. It
was for this purpose that I have been talking so plainly to you from
the very beginning. I have even warned you that a man's foes may be
those of his own household. Although this gospel of the kingdom never
fails to bring great peace to the soul of the individual believer, it
will not bring peace on earth until man is willing to believe my teaching
wholeheartedly and to establish the practice of doing the Father's
will as the chief purpose in living the mortal life.
I emphasize the statement:
"I warn you, the hour draws near
when they who kill you will think they are doing a service to God. And
all of these things they will do to you and to those whom you lead into
the kingdom of heaven because they do not know the Father."
The sons and daughters of Caligastia
today truly believe they are in communication with entities who represent
the Father and Michael, or even are Michael himself. Caligastia has duped
them in their minds. He will bring them to a blissful state. They then
will go forth to obey his commands. They will bring a murderous onslaught
upon God's people among the Christian churches and Jewish synagogues, and
upon those of us who go out in service. This will be a persecution the
likes of which this world has never seen. Evil will go forth, from day
to day, and many will fall.
As Jesus said:
"I am telling you in advance about
these things so that, when your hour comes, as mine now has, you may be
strengthened in the knowledge that all was known to me, and that my spirit
shall be with you in all your sufferings for my sake and the gospel's."
These events will cause every Christian
and every Jew to seek God in fervent prayer. No one will know who will
be next. They will tremble at every knock on their doors. And when the
question is asked as to their spiritual loyalties they will face an eternal
decision. Will they deny their God to save their lives? Or will they submit
to this execution?
Now the foolishness of their theologies
and religious beliefs will show starkly against the greatest spiritual
test this world has even known. They will have cause to seek new understanding
about God, and his kingdom. They will come on their knees before God, in
true repentance and contrition. Then God will be able to speak with them.
No longer will he have theological foolishness burden his voice. Then they
will come to recognize their true brothers and sisters. Then they will
develop true love for one another, in cherishment, and deep respect. Then
brotherhood will appear as this world has never seen.
"It is this lack of natural brotherly attraction that now stands
in the way of immediate realization of the brotherhood
of man on Urantia."
Indeed, there will be "Religious
quickening of the feelings of mortal kinship and brotherhood."
We were warned about our efforts
with our fellow human mortals.
The future of Urantia will doubtless be characterized by the appearance of teachers
of religious truth-the Fatherhood of God and the
fraternity of all creatures. But it is to be hoped that
the ardent and sincere efforts of these future prophets will
be directed less toward the strengthening of interreligious
barriers and more toward the augmentation of the
religious brotherhood of spiritual worship among the many
followers of the differing intellectual theologies
which so characterize Urantia of Satania.
Much of that exhortation will take
care of itself in these dire events.
You cannot truly love your
fellows by a mere act of the will. Love is only born of thoroughgoing understanding of your neighbor's motives
and sentiments.
Can you now understand how men and women everywhere will reexamine their neighbor's motives and sentiments under this severe persecution? These events will be the crucible of true brotherly love. |
