This was a letter addressed to John Murney

December 28, 1995

Dear John:

In several letters and documents over the past years I espoused the view that the children of Adam and Eve would return to this planet from Edentia, where they are now held, to continue the genetic uplift program interrupted at the time of the default of Adam and Eve.

This view was based on the curious statement from I Enoch 39:1:
 

I held this view in spite of the remark on page 844 of The Urantia Papers concerning the children of Adam and Eve that "we do not know what disposition is to be made of them." I also held this view in direct contradiction of the statement on page 632:

Obviously, if those children were deprived of procreative powers they cannot continue the program of biologic uplift. Furthermore, only one son and one daughter would return, and then apparently to serve only in an advisory capacity.

I held my view because I could conceive no other plan which would explain this remark from I Enoch.

Another remark exists in our historical record which bears on this question.

Is the last sentence a rhetorical comment, used merely as emphasis, that no matter where the children of Israel (not only Jews) are scattered, they will be gathered? Or does it speak of earth people who, somehow or other, have been indeed scattered to the uttermost parts of heaven?
 

We have no evidence of any kind, either in our historical records, nor in The Urantia Papers, that groups of earth people were removed from this planet in prior ages, except for the children of Adam and Eve, and the isolated report on Elijah, who was taken away, II Kings 2:11.
 

However, we do have a promise that certain people will be taken away after the coming nuclear holocaust.
 

This Mount Zion is not an earthly mount; from The Urantia Papers we know it as Salvington, (or perhaps Edentia) (or perhaps Jerusem).
 

In the Book of Revelation the 144,000 is a symbolic number representing a special group selected from all the genetic remnants of the people of Israel, not merely Jews. (I shall discuss this difference in depth in a future paper, with planetary evidence to support such assertion.)
 

The timing of their removal was specified by Jesus, and is recorded in our historical documents in Matt 24:29-31 and 39-42. If will be "after the tribulation of those days."
 

The purpose of this wait before lift-off is to ensure that all planetary residents have an opportunity to make decisions and to take action to preserve themselves against the coming great earth changes, for the future benefit of this world. Their choices will demonstrate their devotion to God. They will not be candidates for lift-off unless they make those decisions and take those crucial actions.
 

Several questions loom before us. What is the purpose of the lift-off? Do the 144,000 make up those who are scattered into the uttermost parts of heaven? If so, can we gain additional insight into this highly unusual earth episode?
 

In previous papers and letters I took the view that, indeed, these two groups are the same. I did so because it seems incredible there would be two different groups with such unique experience. In other words, the statement in Deuteronomy is a precursor to the remarks in the Book of Revelation. I concluded that the pure-blood children of Adam and Eve were not a part of Israel, and hence could not be the part which was scattered.
 

(Given these unusual remarks I am led to believe that other information might exist for our enlightenment if it had not been expunged from the historical record by Jewish editors at the time of the Babylonian captivity. These minute remnants of evidence may be part of the Melchizedek "truths of Salem" which were lost.)
 

The statement in I Enoch "that elect and holy children will descend from the high heaven, and their seed will become one with the children of men" must mean that they have special genetic potentials, similar to those of the children of Adam and Eve. Functionally, they must be replacements for the children of Adam and Eve, providing substitute genetic uplift. If we follow this line of reasoning it must also mean that a different group will be prepared, not descended from the original Adam and Eve. How could this be?
 

Will the Urantia Adam and Eve begin another genetic uplift program, this time on some other world, with other children? This does not seem possible. They lived a full earth life, died, were resurrected, and now serve as members of the four-and-twenty counselors. It does not seem reasonable they will be returned to material embodiment after such profound alteration in their personal histories.
 

On the other hand The Urantia Papers invite us to engage in further creative speculation. These matters have been mentioned, but plenty of room is left to suggest other possibilities.
 

At first glance, and from the remarks on page 632, we might think we have a partial answer to one of these questions. "Certain of their progeny" would be one son and one daughter. But such suggestion seems to beg the statement. If "they were deprived of procreative powers" how could they serve as replacement biological uplifters? How could they be Vicegerent Material Sons?
 

It is also difficult to understand how Melchizedek would serve in such role if he will be our Planetary Sovereign. Would not the respective roles of spiritual Planetary Ruler and biologic uplifters both be maintained, yet both be kept separate?
 

Answers to these questions depend upon two important factors concerning the current status of our world. The first is the problem of deficiencies in the present Urantia human biologic stock.

The second difficulty is the lack of sufficient Adamic blood in the current Urantia races.
 

Thus we are faced with two problems:
 

1. The human races were never purged of their inferior and degenerate strains.
 

2. We did not receive sufficient Adamic blood to effect proper biologic uplift.
 

If the pure-blood children of Adam and Eve now on Edentia were deprived of their procreative powers, and if the Urantia Adam and Eve were removed from further contribution to biologic uplift, how will the Urantia races be improved?
 

It may be helpful to note that we are the sentimental shrine of all Nebadon, page 1319. The regular scheme of planetary epochs has been thrown into disarray, page 227.
 

Thus we should not base our speculations on ordinary schedules. Anything can happen on a world used by the Creator for his bestowal; it becomes his special world.
 

In this same context we find the remark about Michael that, in addition to all his other titles from his several bestowal experiences, he is an "Adamic Redeemer." While that remark may reflect his Adamic bestowal, page 1312, it also may reflect his personal concern for the Adamic regime of any world gone astray. He personally experienced the trials of a Material Son on a rebellion-torn world, all the while effecting the rehabilitation of its Prince and the world.
 

From these several factors it seems necessary that Michael has devised an alternate biologic improvement program to substitute for the miscarriage of the original. Reconsider that earlier question:
 

While the return of the original Adam and Eve certainly would be unexpected and unprecedented, there are other factors which must be considered in our attempt to understand such extraordinary transactions.
 

My original thought of the children of Adam and Eve returning to this world was the most simple and, perhaps, simple-minded solution. If the blood-line of the original Adam and Eve is to be continued for uplift why resort to a new set of children to accomplish that end?
 

If we examine the history of Adam and Eve we discover that they were a pair reproduced by an original created pair, that such original pair was unique to biological functioning in the system of Satania, and that they were the offspring of the Creator Son alone, without participation by the Universe Mother Spirit, page 580. Therefore, if the Urantia Adam and Eve were to return, it would be necessary for Michael to create another set of unique bodies for them.
 

There may be important reasons for depriving the children of the original Urantia Adam and Eve of procreative powers. Eve exhibited an inability to cope with the extreme circumstances of our world; she was impatient, used poor judgment, and engaged in an immoral act. Because genetic endowment is so profoundly important to the future spiritual condition, moral stamina, mental capacity, and physical health of the human races the factors of spirituality, morality, and intellect are as important as the physical condition. Perhaps impatience, poor judgment, and immorality reflect defects in that genetic line which necessitated that it be cut off. Since moral and spiritual endowments do not center in physical bodies perhaps new bodies would not solve the problems of those defects.
 

(How much of the moral, spiritual, and intellectual problems of the Urantia races were preconditioned by the little Adamic blood we did receive?)
 

This line of reasoning forces us to the conclusion that a different Adam and Eve will contribute to the future of this world. If this is the sentimental shrine of all Nebadon, and Michael's special world, it seems that he would choose a pair who would provide spiritual, moral, and intellectual traits to compensate for that loss.
 

The question then arises if another Adam and Eve will be chosen from among the original Satania group? Can he find a pair who would meet such needs? Would another genetic pair be compatible with the Adamic seed which is now resident within the Urantia races, no matter how small an amount? Or would it be necessary that he create an original pair to address compatibility conflicts? Although we can raise such questions we are far too ignorant to be able to speculate on answers.
 

Still another factor should be considered. If new bodies were created for the original Urantia Adam and Eve there would be nothing to prevent the creation of bodies for any pair of personalties. There are now no limitations on the creation of a unique Adamic line. Such event would truly be unexpected and unprecedented.
 

If a substitute Adam and Eve, or certain of their progeny, would return to this planet, not the original Urantia Adam and Eve, they would more neatly satisfy the title of Vicegerents of the second Adam of Urantia. If the original Adam and Eve returned it does not seem sensible they would receive the title of Vicegerents.
 

As this discussion shows, more thorough examination of these genetic problems certainly has profound ramifications.
 

Some may feel that the scraps of information in I Enoch, the Book of Deuteronomy, and the Book of Revelation are too tenuous a base for such fascinating speculations. However we cannot neglect the context of The Urantia Papers. The genetic deficiencies in the present-day Urantia races, and the concerns expressed by our planetary supervisors, certainly make genetics a primary element in any program for improvement of this world, just as the preceding quotations demonstrate.
 

At this point it may be helpful to consider other elements of information which may give us deeper insight.

Within the context of these human genetic problems startling and inexplicable reports are coming from all parts of the globe which suggest that a huge human genetic research program is now underway by celestial agencies.
 

Several important features characterize that activity. Refer to the reports by Budd Hopkins, Missing Time, 1981 and Intruders, 1987, David Jacobs, Secret Life, 1992, and Abduction, John Mack, 1994.
 

1. Human mortals are abducted against their will and carried on board craft now hovering mysteriously in our skies.
 

2. The activity is clandestine. We do not observe objects in the sky commensurate with such widespread activity; they are hidden from our view. Also, the human subjects are placed under memory suppression which usually prevents their clear recall of events.
 

3. Occasionally some individuals will have memory flashes which make them highly uncomfortable, or they will develop psychological or biological disorders as a result of traumatic experiences.
 

4. Subsequent treatment under hypnosis by medical professionals or psychological counselors reveals the causes of these disorders. Many details are recovered about their abduction experiences.
 

5. The human mortals are examined under clinical conditions by celestial agents. The examinations are comprehensive on biological and mental characteristics. There also appears to be a heavy concentration on sexual organs and reproductive capacities.
 

6. Egg and sperm samples are taken. Some women experience the first trimester of pregnancy, but the embryos are removed on subsequent abduction episodes. Some women report being given their babies to hold and love. Reports exist where mothers or fathers are shown the children created as part of this program, sometimes as toddlers or even teenagers.
 

7. Although the traumatic experiences may affect the attitudes and mental expectations of the human mortals, the patterns of their days continue. There is not sufficient impact to cause dramatic alterations in world secular or religious organization for political or social decisions.
 

8. We have no evidence that human mortals are not returned to continue their private lives. The abductors do not abscond with human mortals who are the subjects of their research. All are returned to this world. Only the offspring of the genetic program are taken to other places in the heavens.
 

9. The abductors are humanoid forms, but with features which disturb many of the subjects.
 

10. The abductors apparently have superhuman capacities. They can probe minds and read thoughts.
 

11. Two types of humanoid abductors are described, one shorter and one taller, with the latter serving as "commanders" or "leaders." (This does not include other reports of "regular" human-type beings.)
 

12. George Adamski, the most notorious of the "contactees," also observed and mentioned two types of humanoid forms which he called "robots." He was told not to discuss them. A more appropriate word for Adamski to use would have been "androids." It is far more likely that the abductors- examiners are androids, and not sentient beings in the human sense.
 

13. The combination of abductor power and sexual reproduction, together with the inherent limitations of recall methods, led investigators to the conclusion that hybrid forms are being created between humans and the abductors. The fears of the investigators led to conditioning, and suggestive questioning, of their hypnotized subjects, thus to bias the details of the reports.

Other factors enter into our evaluation of these reports.
 

14. The Urantia Papers cast light on genetic possibilities which are in sharp contrast to the wild theories and gross speculations of the abduction investigators.
 

15. No activity goes on within the universe without the approval and consent of our universe supervisors. This is not an uncontrolled creation, wandering randomly and lost; it has guidance and direction from our Creator.
 

16. The citizens of the evolutionary worlds of space are not permitted free travel and exchange with other planets. A major purpose behind universe design is to keep the worlds isolated from one another.
 

17. There is no "galactic empire" out there fulfilling the desires of immature creatures who inhabit the planets.
 

18. Consequently, any activity which now goes on about our planet has the full approval and control of our planetary supervisors. The abduction program is subject to their rulings and direction.
 

19. A further consequence of these universe conditions is that any genetic experimentation or breeding must be coordinated with our planetary needs.

20. As a still further consequence of the revelation of The Urantia Papers, we are now in a position to understand the purpose behind the abduction phenomenon. We have no need to blindly and wildly speculate as so many investigators and students of the phenomenon now do.
 

21. Even more, and significantly, without The Urantia Papers we would have no basis of understanding. We would be in the same shoes as all other earth mortals, with no recourse except to blind and wild speculation. Thus we find a practical use for The Urantia Papers which has no other substitute.
 

Because of the fear which fills the minds of the investigators, and so many others, they cannot get their heads straight to realize that they have no grounds for such fear.
 

22. If a "civilization" of sentient beings had the capacity to traverse space at will, with transit from one location to another far beyond the limitations suggested by our relativity theories, their grasp of "technology" would permit them to take us over at will.
 

23. Again, their abilities to probe human mental function through telepathic techniques are so profound they could induce controlled response in human mortals. They show no such desire. They respect human life, human existence, and human choice.
 

24. Given such "technological" power they would be able to control their genetic lines with supreme manipulation. They would have no need for human genetic materials to balance out their own deficiencies. This factor is the great flaw in the theories of the investigators. The activity is not centered in the genetic deficiencies of the abductors; it is centered in human mortals.
 

Obviously, some element of supreme importance centers around the current human genetic status. The depth of the activity shows genetic research and reproduction which far exceeds our ability to comprehend when considered from the perspective of "normal" twentieth-century mind orientations.
 

(We would have had earlier clues to this activity, as far back as John Fuller's report on Betty and Barney Hill, Interrupted Journey, 1966, if Fuller had not censored the facts of the genetic probing of that couple. He reported the appearance of warts around Barney's scrotum but was unwilling to stick his neck out beyond that, simply because the evidence went so far beyond our social norms.)
 

Still other factors affect our understanding:
 

For me personally an impressive aspect of the abduction phenomenon is the replete exercise which seems aimed at making sure we take notice. With the power and "technological" abilities displayed by the abductors they could effectively have erased all memory from human recall. On the contrary, their conduct appears aimed at bringing notice to the world, but without demonstrative proof.
 

This same technique is currently being employed in the amazing crop circles of England and in animal mutilations.
 

While the phenomenon has been perverted by many false claims, the essential evidence still shows an abundance of experiences, for a purpose which eludes us, unless we are willing to accept interference into human biological developments from superior powers in the universe. If the genetic program is that widespread and profound it would mean that a new uplift exercise has begun in earnest, concentrated on the current biological generation.
 

Another aspect should be considered. The coming nuclear devastations may produce permanent alterations in the biologic stock of the human races. Part of the genetic program may be to preserve current genetic qualities against permanent damage caused by such global trauma. In one report by Budd Hopkins a woman was shown her children who had loss of hair, similar to those losses which take place with chemotherapy treatments for cancer, or nuclear radiation exposure. The experimentation may include quantitative studies on radiation dosage levels. As Jesus stated, if those days had not been shortened no human mortal would survive, Matt 24:22.
 

Further concern for our planet may be hinted by another passage in I Enoch 53:3-5. A possibility exists that quantitative estimates were taken also on the extent of damage through the use of nuclear weapons.
 

Because of our foolish and immature expectations of operations within the universe, we take our childish notions of "scientific" developments, extrapolate them onto the universe, and expect that other "humanoids" must, somehow, have motivations reflecting our worst horrors. While the unknown is truly fearful, the investigators have done great disservice to better understanding of the genetic program now underway.

With this summary of genetic evidence before us perhaps we can come to better understanding of celestial operations now in process.
 

With recognition that the children of Adam and Eve were denied procreative powers long ago, with understanding that the 144,000 are still resident on this planet, and with knowledge that genetic species are peculiar to one planet, i.e., that planets cannot, or are forbidden to, interchange genetic stocks -- there is no external source for interbreeding in those genetic efforts. The genetic program must be centered around present earth genetic stocks. Certainly, if I were managing such a program, I would be selecting the most promising stocks. Given the cost of such operations I would not be fooling around with defective materials. This must mean that a body of earth human genetic stock is being created on some other world, in addition to the lift-off of the 144,000. Whatever enterprise is underway its scope is stupendous and profound.
 

If the abduction genetic program is operating to preserve better human genetic stock this would also mean that a selection process is underway to prepare for interbreeding with Adamic material. In other words a new program, which might take many generations on earth, is now well along. It is strongly possible that the plans of our Creator for world improvement are being accelerated by this process.
 

An obvious deduction from such proposal is the timing of these activities. The intense nature of the current genetic program underway in our skies, and its display over the past twenty years, shows that stupendous planetary transactions are coordinated for imminent culmination.
 

Still another factor enters into our consideration of the amazing transactions associated with this planet. The four-and-twenty counselors of Satania are all now from Urantia. They carry extraordinary powers.
 

In addition to religious leaders of early Urantian history the members now include Adam and Eve, Enoch, Moses, Elijah, and John the Baptist. Thus it is evident that individuals who have done great service for Michael on this world become candidates for extraordinary service in Satania.
 

Machiventa Melchizedek also demonstrates this unusual contribution to the service of Michael. His mortal experience at the time of Abraham, his presence as one of the four-and-twenty counselors, his future human birth on our world, (which I discuss in my papers on Jesus and Melchizedek, Creator and Messiah and The Millennium), and his future rulership as Planetary Sovereign all show a unique dedication to and unique honor by Michael.
 

Melchizedek and Adam and Eve did not live by faith. But Moses, Elijah, and John the Baptist certainly did. It was their deep and abiding faith in God which led to their extraordinary service. We can now better understand that remark on page 578:  
 

Given these exceptional transactions as indicators we do not know where our Creator might reach to find a pair who have shown deep dedication to him in sublime demonstration of faith, thus to become eligible to serve as the future Vicegerent Material Sons of Urantia.
